Description: Postdoctoral Position Available in Translational Tumor Immunology Research A postdoctoral position in translational tumor immunology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tullia Bruno ( at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Projects are in the areas of translational tumor immunology, in particular, evaluating the interplay of the immune system (specifically tumor infiltrating T and B cells) with other components of the tumor microenvironment. The work will be executed through multi-disciplinary collaborations at the institution and in industry. Specifically, a significant portion of the postdoctoral candidate’s time will be dedicated to collaborative research with Alkermes ( where they will evaluate the effects of their lead immunomodulatory agents on the tumor microenvironment in cancer patients. As part of their postdoctoral training, the candidate will spend time understanding industry pipelines, which includes regular conference calls, face to face meetings and the possibility of an apprenticeship at Alkermes. This is an excellent opportunity to receive translational tumor immunology training in an academic lab with an industry angle. The Bruno lab is seeking competitive candidates who have recently earned a PhD and/or MD degree and possess excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Experience in tumor immunology is highly desirable. Excellent skills in flow cytometry, immune-based assays, and tissue culture of primary cells i.e. sterile technique are required. Experience with handling and processing human tissues, spatial analyses of human tissues, and spectral cytometry is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and based on current NIH guidelines.
